Dear Parent/Guardian,
With school underway, we are very focused on helping your child be successful in school. The best advice is for parents to become and remain involved in their child’s educational program and to create a supportive academic condition in the home. The home-school connection is extremely important in the developmental education of each child. With your help and active involvement we can enhance the children’s experience at Lehman-Jackson Elementary and thereby make a difference in their lives.
Progress Reports will be available on e-Schoolbook on Sept. 30th. If you wish to have a paper copy please send in a note requesting the document otherwise it will be on line. Report cards will still be sent home via a hard copy. If you have any questions regarding e-Schoolbook please contact Brian Murphy 675-2165 Ext. 2804 or email Murphy@lake-lehman .K12.pa.us.
The Lehman-Jackson students will be involved with several new programs this school year:
The Student Assistance Program (SAP), Response to Intervention (RtI) and Promoting Alternative Thinking Skills (PATHS). The SAP program is designed to assist trained school personnel in identifying issues including alcohol, tobacco, other drugs, and mental health issues which pose as a barrier to a student’s success. The goal of the SAP program is to help students overcome these barriers in order that they may achieve, remain in school and find success. The PATHS program curriculum is a comprehensive program for promoting emotional and social competencies while reducing aggression and behavioral problems in the elementary school. The RtI program is an early intervention strategy. It is a comprehensive multi-tiered, standards-aligned strategy to enable early identification and intervention for students at academic risk. The goal of RtI is to improve student achievement using researched-based interventions matched to instructional need and level of student.
A few need to know items for the school year: The Lake-Lehman School District utilizes the “Global Connect” automated computer-generated system to notify parents/guardians of any emergency, weather-related late starts, early dismissals or school cancellations. Only one call phone per student family. The school doors open at 8:00 AM. Children should not be dropped off prior to that time. Absence Excuse forms can be downloaded from the district website (Student Links-student printable forms) Please use these forms for all absences, early dismissals, and trip requests. The standardized testing dates are as follows: Reading/Math –April 7 through 16 (Grades3,4,5,6) Terra Nova)grades K,1,2) Writing (grade 5) April 19-23 and Science April 26-30 (grade 4). Please make every attempt not to schedule vacations or doctor’s appointments during this time period.
